2019 Greater Rome Impact Grant Recipients Announced
On January 21, the Community Foundation for Greater Rome announced $28,000 in grants to four Rome nonprofits. In addition to the $28,000 awarded through the Rome Impact Fund and the First Christian Heritage Fund, the foundation also announced over $188,000 in giving through Donor Advised Funds in 2019.
This year’s $25,000 Rome Impact Grant was split between two proposals – a holistic peer-based recovery program by Elevation House and LivingProof Recovery and a financial literacy program by the Boys & Girls Club of Northwest Georgia. The two proposals were selected from 14 proposals from area nonprofits totaling $240,000 in requests for funding submitted this fall.
“We are continuing to see both tremendous need in our community as well as creative and excellent efforts by nonprofits to address these needs,” Executive Director Ashley Garner said. “It is our hope to be able to give increasingly large sums of grants to even more organizations as we grow. There were many excellent proposals we had to leave on the table.”
Elevation House and LivingProof Recovery received $12,500 to develop an innovative partnership to provide coordinated services for individuals with co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. The program will provide coordinated care from both an innovative mental health program and an innovative recovery program.
The Boys & Girls Club received $12,500 to expand their Family Financial Empowerment program, a free 6-session financial literacy course that provides parents with education and tools to take control of their finances. The foundation’s investment in this program will allow the Boys & Girls Club to leverage additional funds from the Chick-fil-A Foundation and local financial institutions.
