First Christian Heritage Fund

Continuing a legacy of ministry by making a lasting impact in Rome and Floyd County

When First Christian Church closed its doors and sold their church building in 2018, the remaining members of the congregation wanted to do something unique with the proceeds. After distributing the majority of the proceeds from the sale to area nonprofits, the final $80,000 created the First Christian Heritage Fund with the Community Foundation. The fund is managed by the Community Foundation, which distributes money every year to a local nonprofit that expresses the unique commitments of the church. Contributions are made in the name of First Christian Church.

"We have closed our doors, but other organizations will flourish from our gifts. It's a reflection of the resurrection. Our ministry will go on in a new way."
