2023 Grant Recipients
In March 2024, several area nonprofits were recognized and awarded funding from The Community Foundation for Greater Rome at a reception at The Law Offices of McRae, Smith, Peek.
The Open Door Home received $8,650 in funding for their collaboration with Glowing Girls Inc, Three Circles Foundation, YMCA & NorthWest Georgia Technical College’s Culinary Arts Program to deliver ServSafe Food Safety training to 40 local young adults. The program will equip them with job skills and expose them to careers in the food industry.
The Foundation awarded $10,000 to Living Proof Recovery’s Next Door program for the Jump Start initiative, offering critical financial support to women during their initial phase of recovery program enrollment. Their goal is to increase the success rates of women beginning their transformative path to independence and financial security while in the program and after graduating.
A grant for $6,350 was provided for the Davies Shelter "Bus Fare" Initiative. This partnership between the Rome Community Kitchen, the William Davies Foundation, and Fork, Spoon & Plate expands nutritional support to outlying areas and provides meals to low-income communities, those with disabilities, and people in rural areas with few transportation options.
The First Christian Heritage Fund also awarded two grants to worthy programs in Rome.
The Salvation Army was given $1,500 to support the purchase of instruments and sheet music for their Music Mondays program for underprivileged youth. A Teen's Choice received $1,500 to provide a wellness and mental health retreat for at-risk high school girls this Summer.
