Established by McRae, Smith, Peek in partnership with the Community Foundation for Greater Rome, the MSP 125th Anniversary Scholarship Fund supports local students interested in pursuing careers in law.
Created in celebration of the firm's 125 years of service, the scholarship reflects a commitment to investing in future leaders who will serve their communities with integrity and professionalism.
Scholarship Opportunities
Each year, two one-time, merit-based scholarships are awarded to graduating high school seniors from Floyd or Polk Counties:
The Michael D. McRae Scholarship — awarded to a male recipient
The Virginia Barrow Harman Scholarship — awarded to a female recipient
Award amounts are determined annually. In 2026, each recipient received a $2,000 scholarship toward tuition and fees at their academic institution.
Scholarship awards are for one academic year and are paid directly to the recipient's accredited college, university, or other eligible postsecondary institution.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
Be graduating high school seniors from Floyd or Polk County.
Demonstrate academic achievement.
Have a clear interest in pursuing a legal career.
Children of McRae, Smith, Peek employees or attorneys, and children of Community Foundation for Greater Rome staff or Board members, are not eligible.
Application Requirements
A complete application includes:
A short essay describing the student's interest in pursuing a legal career
A resume or list of activities and accomplishments
One letter of recommendation
Application Timeline
Applications for the 2027 scholarship cycle will open in February 2027.
