Blooms on Broad Launch Event

More than 40 community members gathered Thursday morning, May 2nd to celebrate the launch of Blooms on Broad.  The crowd gathered to see several of the first twelve at the intersection of Broad Street and Second Avenue.

Community Foundation board chair Ed Watters welcomed the group and thanked partner organizations for their role in the project.  In addition to the Community Foundation, partners include: Berry College, the City of Rome, the Downtown Development Authority, and the Rome-Floyd Commerce.

Several donors who sponsored the first planters attended the launch. In addition, members from three garden clubs and many supporters of efforts to beautify downtown Rome came to see the new planters and flowers.

Watters announced that the Community Foundation would like to expand the project to an additional intersection this spring if sufficient funding can be found by the end of May. The foundation plans to raise the funds to add planters at every corner on Broad Street from First Avenue through Sixth Avenue.
